The Evolution of the telephone
Home telephones are gradually disappearing, as we've entered the personal smartphone age.
Although many believe that the first telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell,
it technically was first devised by Antonio Meucci.
As shown below, the first telephone had a separate transmitter and receiver.
It sure looks different from current models, doesn't it?

In 1896, a telephone made in Sweden had the transmitter and receiver constructed together,
and a caller reached an operator at the exchange office by spinning the dial on the right side of the device,
which resembles a lever. This is called the "Magneto System."

In the 1930s and 1940s, the invention of the dial telephone allowed users to automatically call
others without involving an operator.

In 1973, Martin Cooper invented the first cellular phone,
which has since been repeatedly transformed up to the present day, in which smartphones,
light enough for people to carry and use anywhere, are widely available.
